Overview

In 1966, NUS Consulting opened its Düsseldorf office. Today, the office employs over 40 professionals providing energy consulting services to clients located throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland as well as certain Eastern European countries.

Like many of its European counterparts Germany opened its energy market to competition in 1998. Unlike some of its neighbors, Germany’s path to deregulation preserved a number of existing institutions, making the market unique in a number of ways. Today, aside from the four main energy generators (E.ON, RWE, Vattenfall and EnBW), there remains over 1,000 local municipalities (stadtwerke) which continue to provide energy services to the local market. Many of these municipalities continue to own and operate the transmission system in their region. As a consequence, the movement of energy within Germany can be quite a formidable (and expensive) task. Recently, the German Federal Antitrust Division (Bundeskartellamt) initiated an investigation into the charges being applied by a number of municipalities. It is hoped that as issues with regard to the transmission of energy are resolved the market will become more competitive luring more foreign suppliers.

The Düsseldorf office offers a full range of energy consulting services – procurement, audit, analysis, on-line data management, research and consulting. Our consulting staff possesses an exceptional level of experience and expertise – the average consultant possesses in excess of 15 years energy consulting experience. As a consequence, our reputation for professionalism, negotiating skill and client focus is unrivalled in the German marketplace.
