CBS News : Oil tumbles below $80 amid US recession fears
global: August 08, 2011CBS News quotes NUS Consulting Group CEO Richard Soultanian's analysis in their report as oil prices tumbled to their lowest in almost a year Tuesday in Europe amid a global sell-off of equities and commodities triggered by investor fears the U.S. will soon fall into recession.
Newsflash - Markets Succumb To Reality
global: August 08, 2011Last week we issued a News Flash entitled “Sea of Uncertainty” which focused on a number of highly troubling events facing the markets. Specifically we analyzed and provided our predictions, relating to the US debt ceiling debate, the most recent European bailout plan, events in the Middle East and North Africa and slowing economic data out of China. Our conclusion was summed up in the following sentence, “unfortunately, it is our view that the resolution of these issues will not come easily or swiftly and consequently we continue to expect increased volatility in the energy and the commodities markets for the foreseeable future.” Being one of the few market analysts who published a forecast in January that called for oil to end the year in the $80s, our models consistently expected an economic slowdown in the second half of this year - but the action in the markets in recent days has exceeded even our pessimistic outlook.
News Flash – Sea Of Uncertainty
global: July 26, 2011If there is one thing we can be certain of, it is that uncertainty has taken hold of the markets. A week ago, we issued a News Flash entitled “Headwinds Galore” which reviewed the many serious challenges facing the markets – the US deficit and debt ceiling debate, European Sovereign Debt Crisis and continued unrest in the Mideast and North Africa (MENA). At the end of the week, after the release of new economic data concerning China, we issued a News Flash which added to this already troubling list the risk of an economic slowdown in China. It should not be a surprise that faced with so many serious issues the markets have been trading largely on the news. Unfortunately, it is our view that the resolution of these issues will not come easily or swiftly and consequently, we continue to expect increased volatility in the energy and commodities markets for the foreseeable future.
Italy : News Flash – La Cina Rallenta
News Flash – China Slowing
global: July 22, 2011There is little doubt that, since the financial crisis, China has been one of the main drivers of global economic growth. Recent developments, however, suggest that change may be in the air. Recent trade and manufacturing data indicate China’s economy, the world’s second largest, may be slowing. If China’s growth trajectory is actually leveling, this will have a significant impact on the energy and commodities markets.

Newsflash - Headwinds Galore
global: July 19, 2011Today the global economy faces more challenges (political, economic and geopolitical) than at any time in recent history. Although one could blithely dismiss each, and maybe all, of these issues with the old adage – “the market climbs a wall of worry,” the challenges we face today, both individually and on a combined basis, are of sufficient magnitude that they could not only derail the fragile economic recovery but also throw us back into another serious recession. In light of this backdrop, we continue to believe that the second half of 2011 and the start of 2012 will be sluggish at best and, at worst, could see the start of a double dip recession. Consequently, we are retaining our existing forecast which provides for energy markets to soften in the second half of the year and into next year.
Italia : Il Sole 24 Ore:

A Lighter Shade of Green
united states: June 30, 2011While America’s “Green Movement” is largely considered by most to be a modern invention, it has its roots in the intellectual thoughts of the 1830s and 40s which concentrated on preservation of natural resources, regulation of pollutants and a growing awareness of the environmental and health risks of the increased and largely unregulated use of chemicals and natural resources used in manufacturing and industry.
