For large multi-site businesses the compilation, maintenance and analysis of energy data is an essential management process. Now more than ever before, corporate boards and senior management must have a thorough and up to date understanding of their exposure to market price volatility as well as the environmental impact of their company’s energy consumption and purchasing decisions/strategies. Compliance with new regulations as well as corporate social responsibility programs relating to the environment and carbon emissions are increasing the responsibilities and exposure of senior management. However, constructing, maintaining and making this type of comprehensive energy database widely available within an organization is an expensive and resource intensive project.
It is for this reason NUS Consulting has developed (in collaboration with a number of its multi-site clients) a web-based energy data management system– which we have named NUSdirect®. Presently, the NUSdirect system is being used by a number of Fortune 500 companies to monitor, analyze and control their energy costs on a global basis. Some of the features of the NUSdirect system are set forth below.
Access/Security
NUSdirect is a Verisign® Secured site with access restricted to individuals with a valid username and password. The system is available 24/7 to authorized users and requires the installation of no special software, other than a standard internet browser with access to the internet.
Scalability
The NUSdirect system has been designed to operate on both a local and international basis. The system includes multi-language, currency and energy-unit support as well as the capability to manage anywhere from a single site up to thousands of sites in a single country or scattered around the globe.
Tools/Reports
A suite of analytical tools and reports for monitoring, analyzing and managing energy data is included within NUSdirect. All of NUSdirect’s tools and reports are available on an account, group or site basis – thereby providing the maximum flexibility in organizing and viewing significant amounts of energy data. A selection of the available tools and reports are listed below.
- Budgeting and forecasting tools.
- Site ranking and benchmarking tools.
- Supply contract management reports.
- Carbon Emissions (CO2) monitoring and management tools.
- Energy efficiency reports and tools.
- Access to metering data.
- Charts and reports based upon consumption, expenditure and unit price.
- Year-on-Year comparative charts and reports.
As part of our service, NUS Consulting will initialize the NUSdirect system (i.e., setup various sites, set system currency conversions, normalize energy unit measures and input historic energy data), provide system training, and input current energy billing data to keep the system current. Typically, our clients elect to use our NUSdirect system in conjunction with our Invoice Validation and Processing service.
