New Electricity Capacity Charge in 2021
On 30 November 2020, the Polish Energy Regulatory Office published information on a new electricity capacity charge for 2021. This charge was initially introduced in the Capacity Market Act, adopted into the law in 2017, and scheduled to become effective in October 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the regulatory implementation has been postponed to 1 January 2021.

ARENH Reform Could Result in EDF Break-Up
The ARENH (Regulated Access to Historic Nuclear Electricity) mechanism currently requires EDF to sell up to 100 TWh of nuclear electricity to competing suppliers each year at a fixed price of 42 euros/MWh. That volume comes out to roughly one-quarter of EDF's annual electricity production.

TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) Now Operational
After four years of construction, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) started commercial operation on 16 November 2020. The pipeline has completed all operational testing and verification on the Italian Terminal side and will begin to deliver natural gas to the local market.
