France's Rising Energy Prices

The impact of the Ukraine-Russia conflict on French and European energy markets.


Following Russiaโ€™s attack on Ukraine early this morning, prices on European energy markets have soared.

At 4pm, Brent crude oil was at $103.05/b, up from $97.56/b last night.

Concerning power market, the French Baseload Calendar 2023 product closed yesterday at 184.50 โ‚ฌ/MWh, andย is now at 209.50 โ‚ฌ/MWh.

On the natural gas side, the TTF Calendar 2023 product has risen from 62.30 โ‚ฌ/MWh yesterday evening to 80.00 โ‚ฌ/MWh at 4pm today.

Given the current geopolitical tension, these prices are likely to remain high over the coming weeks.
