New Natural Gas Storage Rates March 2022

The CRE has set the storage rate at 261.08 €/MWh/day/year - a 41% increase compared with the previous rate.

In a deliberation dated March 10th 2022, the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) set the level of the storage rate as 261.08 €/MWh/day/year, starting April 1st 2022 & for the next twelve months.

This represents a 41% increase compared with the previous rate.

The storage fee has seen continuous rolling increases for the last three years, but still hasn't reached the all-time high, which occurred in 2018.

Considering the statutes regulating the payment of storage, the impact this increase has on industrial consumers will hinge on their specific consumption profile & whether their daily capacity is capped or normalised.

Though consumers whose winter usage is less than 50% of their annual total can feel free to disregard this news (since they are exempt from storage costs outright), our projections show that the storage rate might be higher than 4.70 €/MWh, depending on their geographic location.
