The price of Brent has once again increased on average weekly (+1.73 €/bbl) from 52.50 €/bblto 54.22 €/bbl. Downward trends associated with mild temperatures led to a decrease of 0.17 €/MWh in the average weekly price of CAL 22 products.
France
Electricity and gas prices rose over the last week, CO2 lost slightly fell due to sell-offs in the stock markets. Oil prices fell from prior week amid demand concerns, coal prices rose due to limited supply.
Germany
Falling gas prices headlined the European power market narrative last week. Short-end gas futures across western Europe sunk last week, with the largest declines coming in the French market. Carbon EUAs traded between technical support and resistance levels last week.
Europe
Day-ahead prices rose substantially into the weekend. A notable decline in gas demand in the U.K saw spot and short-end prices drop last week. Carbon, despite hovering around record highs, failed to lend meaningful support to prices.
United Kingdom
US natural gas inventories decreased by 338 Bcf for the week ending February 19, compared with the five-year (2016–2020) average net withdrawal of 122 Bcf. Working gas stocks total 1,943 Bcf, which are 161 Bcf lower than the five-year average and 298 Bcf lower than last year at this time.
