Slovak power market followed the trend of Czech market. Slovenian market followed trend on other European electricity markets. Gas market was experiencing significant price increase since beginning of this week supported by the sentiment and weather forecast. SPOT reached historical maximum mainly as reaction to fears related to future gas flows from Russia.

The traded volumes are high pointing to the coming trading break from 20 December to 10 January. The warmer weather predicted for next week could keep SPOT demand lower. On the other side many big energy consumers are probably short and will have to close their open positions for next year.

Oil fell significantly due to news of new COVID virus variant omicron which threatens global economy recovery. Gas market is experiencing price increase since Tuesday mainly as reflection of the decreasing outside temperatures and approaching winter. Gas flows into Europe remain rather stable.

CO2 prices increased to new historical maximums. The CO2 and coal had very bullish development whereas oil weakened due to worsening pandemic situation and announced lock downs. Risk of cold weather remains and gas prices will remain very volatile the whole winter.

The energy mix had rather bullish development - especially gas. Oil weakened thanks to Mr. Biden's intention to release US oil reserves to tackle energy driven inflation. Electricity market, however, followed gas market and increased significantly.

The energy mix had mixed development. Coal and oil decreased WoW; however, gas and power are rather stable WoW. The gas was main driver in electricity development, where price was decreasing Tuesday until Wednesday, but later started to grow again.
