Government makes pledges against surging 2022 electricity prices

Last Thursday, the Government announced the implementation of two measures to limit the increase in electricity prices for the year 2022:

1.   Exceptional increase in ARENH volumes of 20 TWh, for the period lasting 1 April 2022 to 31 December 2022.

2.   The price of this additional ARENH volume will be of 46.20 €/MWh, with the initial 100 TWh remaining at 42.0 €/MWh.

3.   Reduction of the TICFE (CSPE) tax to a rate 0.5 €/MWh from 1 February 2022 for a period of 12 months.

France has, therefore, decided to act by activating the two available levers, the ARENH mechanism and its energy tax policy.
