Flash - Final Capacity Bids for 2022

Final Capacity bids for 2022 sets Capacity price at 23,899.90 €/MW.

The results of the last capacity auction of the 2021 calendar year, which occurred on December 9th, are out. The Capacity price for 2022 reached 23,900 €/MW, decreasing 38.9% compared with the price set by the relevant bids in 2020 for 2021 (39,095 €/MW).  This price also shows a moderate decrease compared with the trend in the two earlier scheduled auctions for 2021 (respectively coming in at 6,000 €/MW and 7,600 €/MW). While the average trade price last year was 31,242 €/MW, this year saw traded at an average price of 28,428 €/MW, reaching a high of 31,500 €/MW in October.

Following the announcement of the ARENH reduction, this final auction will set the buy-back price for the capacity obligation of suppliers for their clients who signed an ARENH Indexed contract for 2022.
