France Power Pricing Trends | 10 January 2022

After lower prices during the holiday season, the electricity futures market rose last week, buoyed by natural gas and carbon prices. In a context of low liquidity and growing importance of CO2, the price of carbon emission quotas has been rising  steadily since mid-December. This trend shows no signs of abating next week. Average weekly prices leapt from 126.53 €/MWh to 136.10 €/MWh for CAL 2023 & from 88.75 €/MWh to 94.72 €/MWh for CAL 2024.

France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 10 January 2022

The natural gas futures market rose last week. Despite the arrival of LNG cargo ships in Europe, European natural gas stocks are decreasing (currently at 56% of their capacity). The Gas flow from Russia remains limited. Average weekly prices surged from 47.55€/MWh to 48.80 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 28.04 €/MWh to 28.91 €/MWh for CAL 2024.

France Oil Pricing Trends | 10 January 2022 

Oil prices rose last week. The market is confident that demand will remain strong, despite the spread of the Omicron variant around the world. The average weekly price of Brent rebounded from 69.65 €/bbl to 71.24 €/bbl.
