Last week, the electricity futures market rose following strong growth in natural gas, coal and CO2 prices. The carbon market soared earlier this week following a technical problem on the exchange system as well as the EU’s reaffirmed reluctance to allocate additional carbon allowances to industry free of charge. The average weekly price increased from 64.02 €/MWh to 66.49 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 57.59 €/MWh to 59.14 €/MWh for CAL 2023.

The unit price on the natural gas market is rising due to a low level of natural gas storage which need to be replenished, while scheduled maintenance and outages at refineries reduce the available flow from the North Sea. The average weekly price rose from 20.75 €/MWh to 21.92 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 17.86 €/MWh to 18.52 €/MWh for CAL 2023.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 14 June 2021
Brent prices continued to inflate last week following sustained positive signs of economic recovery & expectations of higher oil demand whereas production remains stable to date. The average weekly price of Brent thus increased from 58.15 €/bbl to 59.26 €/bbl.
