France Power Pricing Trends | 15 November 2021
After a drop at the beginning of the week, the power futures market recovered, following the trend of natural gas and CO2 prices. Carbon prices reached their highest level in several weeks in a speculative context with limited liquidity. In addition, COP26 failed to produce any key agreements that would have contained the upward trend. Average weekly prices moved from 119.58 €/MWh to 122.13 €/MWh for CAL 2022 & from 82.02 €/MWh to 83.06 €/MWh for CAL 2023.

In the current context of waiting for natural gas deliveries for European countries, the situation on the gas market has become more tense in mid-week. Belarus is threatening to cut gas supplies to Europe in retaliation for the migrant crisis which oppose the country against EU. Average weekly prices surged from 47.86 €/MWh to 48.26 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 31.40 €/MWh to 31.24 €/MWh for CAL 2023.

Oil prices have risen slightly in the past week on fears of a possible entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. The average weekly price of Brent rebounded from 71.43 €/bbl to 72.20 €/bbl.
