France Power Pricing Trends | 19 January 2022
After a marked drop last week, the electricity futures market rose on Friday following EDF's announcements. Thursday evening, the electricity producer notified the shutdown of 5 reactors following the discovery of defects on some plants to authorities. Nuclear production will be lower than expected in the coming weeks. This forecast accentuates fears in all market participants. Average weekly prices leapt from 136.10 €/MWh to 125.09 €/MWh for CAL 2023 & from 94.72 €/MWh to 94.00 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 19 January 2022
The natural gas futures market fell last week. Despite the reduced flow of Russian gas and gradually decreasing inventories, market participants are optimistic. Indeed, the arrival of LNG cargo ships in Europe as well as milder weather allowed for a relaxation of prices on the market. At the end of the week, however, natural gas prices rose in response to the decline in the availability of the nuclear fleet. Average weekly prices surged from 48.80 €/MWh to 45.37 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 28.91 €/MWh to 29.24 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 19 January 2022
Oil prices rose last week. Demand is still strong, confirming that the 5th wave of COVID will not have an impact on the market. The average weekly price of Brent rebounded from 71.24 €/bbl to 73.76 €/bbl.
