The electricity futures market rose last week. Concerns persist about the decline in nuclear power generation in France. The price of CO2 rose last week due to uncertainties around energy supply. The weekly average price has risen from 246.57 €/MWh to 254.62 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 173.08 €/MWh to 184.35 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 2 May 2022
Natural gas prices fell last week. Concerns over the delivery of Russian gas have been offset by a massive influx of LNG into Europe as well as a decline in overall demand for natural gas. However, prices remain extremely volatile and dependent on geopolitical tensions. The weekly average price fell from 79.62 €/MWh to 76.02 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 63.49 €/MWh to 60.35 €/MWh for CAL 2024.

Oil prices remained at a high level last week. In Europe, an upcoming embargo on Russian oil is emerging. Stakeholders perceive complications in supply in the coming weeks. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil shrank from 99.60 €/bbl to 99.16 €/bbl.
