France Power Pricing Trends | 20 April 2021
Whereas the weekly average price did fall last week (from 56.63 €/MWh to 56.18 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 53.87€/MWh to 53.49 €/MWh for CAL 2023), the futures market grew over the weekend, on track with the CO2 market’s trend. Indeed, the price of carbon quotas has exceeded the previous record set in January 2021 (standing at 44.35 €/t as of April 16, 2021).

The bullishness of the natural gas futures market continues, due to the ongoing cold weather as well as maintenance work affecting the availability of gas delivered by the grid. The average weekly price rises from 17.94€/MWh to 18.12 €/MWh for the 2022 CAL and from 16.89 €/MWH to 16.98 €/MWh for the 2023 CAL.

Encouraging signs of economic recovery in the United States and China led to higher Brent prices last week. The average weekly price of Brent rose from 53.47 €/bbl to 54.72 €/bbl.
