The electricity futures market rose last week. EDF and France’s Nuclear Safety Agency spoke out about the ongoing corrosion phenomenon. The main takeaway from their analysis report is that the oldest (and least powerful) plants are not affected by this technical problem & EDF has no plans to shut down additional reactors. But the latter is revising its expected 2022 nuclear production downwards (290 TWh against a historical average of 310 TWh). The weekly average price has risen from 304.22 €/MWh to 306.56 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 213.42 €/MWh to 217.71 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 23 May 2022
Natural gas prices dropped last week. The market is catching its breath due to high Russian gas imports. In addition, many European companies such as ENI or ENGIE have submitted to the obligation to pay gas in rubles. The weekly average price fell slightly from 74.54 €/MWh to 71.11 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and rose from 58.56 €/MWh to 55.35 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 23 May 2022
Brent prices rose last week. U.S. inventory levels, especially gasoline, reached their lowest level since 2014. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil fell from 101.09 €/bbl to 106.21 €/bbl.
