France Power Pricing Trends | 24 August 2021
A new all-time high was reached on Tuesday with a 2022 price of €87.20/MWh. High gas prices have induced higher coalfired electricity generation, supporting both the CO2 and electricity markets. Last Thursday, expectations of a tapering by the Fed caused the markets to react, including the electricity market, when nothing happened, with a drop of nearly 5 €/MWh. The average weekly price moved from 83.89 €/MWh to 84.96 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and 68.17 €/MWh to 68.34 €/MWh for CAL 2023.

The supply of LNG remains low. However, stocks increased slightly to 62% (compared to 87% at the same time last year). Last Thursday, like electricity and CO2, gas prices fell by around 8%, only to rise again on Friday. The European market is still hanging onto news of the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Average weekly prices surged from 31.64 €/MWh to 31.95 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 22.20 €/MWh to 22.51 €/MWh for CAL 2023.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 24 August 2021
The price of a barrel continued to fall throughout the week. The black gold market still fears a slowdown in the economy linked to the resurgence of the pandemic. The average weekly price of Brent decreased from 60.14 €/bbl to 57.57 €/bbl.
