France Power Pricing Trends | 26 April 2022
The electricity futures market was bullish again last week. EDF announced that a further group of four nuclear reactors were under scrutiny for incidences of pipe corrosion in the emergency cooling circuit. Though only observed on older generation reactors so far, it seems as if newer infrastructure may also be affected. The weekly average price has risen from 227.60 €/MWh to 246.57 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 151.07 €/MWh to 173.08 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 26 April 2022
Gas trends also had a busy week. To the surprise of many, an unprecedented situation is unfolding: a significant decorrelation of prices between Western and Central Europe. This is explained by the arrival of many US LNG cargoes in Western Europe (France, Spain), creating significant differences between PEG and TTF (up to 13.7 €/MWh for example for month +1). The weekly average price rose from 79.14 €/MWh to 79.62 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 59.35 €/MWh to 63.49 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 26 April 2022
Despite the announcement of the closure of major oil sites in Libya, oil prices fell last week. This decline is due in particular to the possible extension of lockdowns in China. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil rose from 98.36 €/bbl to 99.60 €/bbl.
