France Power Pricing Trends | 27 March 2023

The power market rose last week. French electricity production is still under pressure with continued social mobilization and a significant drop in hydroelectric production. EDF announced the postponement of the re-start of several nuclear reactors. The weekly average price increased from 176.71 €/MWh to 187.32 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and decreased from 124.04 /MWh to 124.24 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

The natural gas market stabilized last week. In France, three LNG import terminals are still on strike. French gas stocks continue to decline (less than 30% of French stocks filled). LNG tankers delivering LNG are heading for neighboring countries. The European market is therefore not impacted. The weekly average price fell from 51.66 /MWh to 49.80 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 42.85 €/MWh to 41.52 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

France Oil Pricing Trends | 27 March 2023

The price of Brent crude oil stabilized last week after the market fell sharply following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank. The US administration is reassuring about the health of its banking system. However, the markets remain attentive to the signs of fragility observed at European banks. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil fell from 71.33 €/bbl to 69.48 €/bbl.
