France Power Pricing Trends | 27 September 2021
Last week, electricity futures prices continued to rise, still driven by the upward trends for natural gas, CO2 and coal. However, the 7 day variation was smaller than It had been the previous week (+€4.83/MWh instead of +€6.80/MWh for the 2022 CAL). Average weekly prices moved from 104.23 €/MWh to 109.26 €/MWh for CAL 2022 & from 75.06 €/MWh to 76.26 €/MWh for CAL 2023.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 27 September 2021
To date, European gas stocks are at 72% of their capacity. On average over the last 5 years, they were at 87% at the same time. This lateness, combined with forecasts of an early winter, is causing prices to soar on the natural gas market. Average weekly prices surged from 40.54 €/MWh to 43.59 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 24.97 €/MWh to 26.35 €/MWh for CAL 2023.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 27 September 2021
Brent prices rose last week. Demand increased because the mooted gas price was, at first, too high (substitution effect). On the supply side, oil production has still not resumed in the Gulf of Mexico and oil stocks are at an all-time low. The average weekly price of Brent rebounded from 63.42 €/bbl to 64.83 €/bbl.
