France Power Pricing Trends | 28 December 2021
The forward price of electricity is exploding at the end of the year, driven by natural gas prices. With French nuclear production down following the sudden shutdown of two power plants due to technical problems, coal and oil-fired plants were called in to supply the national grid. The record for electricity imports was broken on Tuesday evening. Average weekly prices leapt from 255.27 €/MWh to 363.00 €/MWh for CAL 2022 & from 120.85 €/MWh to 141.25 €/MWh for CAL 2023.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 28 December 2021
The natural gas futures market continued to rise early last week. The flow of natural gas from Russia was further reduced, panicking the markets and heightening fears of a gas shortage in Europe. Average weekly prices surged from 86.94 €/MWh to 118.34 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 43.86 €/MWh to 55.55 €/MWh for CAL 2023.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 28 December 2021
Oil prices remained relatively stable last week. The market is not very lively at the end of the year but remains cautious in view of the spread of the Omicron variant. The average weekly price of Brent rebounded from 65.36 €/bbl to 66.23 €/bbl.
