The electricity market rose last week. As temperatures drop, energy demand is higher on the short-term market. European energy players are very attentive to the evolution of French nuclear production, with six reactors scheduled to return to the grid soon. On a positive note, hydropower production is increasing thanks to the high rainfall this autumn. The weekly average price increased from 401.26 €/MWh to 421.44 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and grew from 273.64 €/MWh to 290.95 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 28 November 2022
The natural gas market rose last week. The French market reacted to the first net withdrawals from underground gas storage (although the fullness level is still high, above 98%). A new meeting of EU ministers is scheduled for 13 December, with the aim of agreeing on a cap on gas prices, as well as on pooled purchasing. The weekly average price increases from 111.62 €/MWh to 118.85 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 92.17 €/MWh to 93.35 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 28 November 2022
The price of Brent continued to fall last week. Fear of an economic slowdown and lower demand for oil are growing. Indeed, Chinese demand has dropped sharply with the implementation of strict zero COVID policies in many cities in China. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil dropped from 88.10 €/bbl to 83.14 €/bbl.
