On balance, prices remained fairly stable week-on-week, even if the market continued to be marked by volatility, with amplitudes up to 10 €/MWh. Milder temperatures have dampened demand and solar production is on the rise. However, with historically low nuclear production, gas power plants will remain in demand thus supporting higher market prices. Average weekly prices went from 194.20 €/MWh to 194.87 €/MWh for CAL 2023 & from 121.22 €/MWh to 125.53 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 29 March 2022
On March 23, Russia announced that it would insist that transactions for natural gas with “hostile nations” be paid solely in rubles. Gas prices then reacted unfavorably to this announcement with a 9% rise on the same day. By the end of the week, futures remained priced just under 70 €/MWh. Average weekly prices rose from 63.28 €/MWh to 67.15 €/MWh for CAL 2023 & from 43.65 €/MWh to 47.02 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 29 March 2022
Tensions and uncertainty are still felt in Brent trading, with an average variation of +13.12% in the last two weeks. Between the situation in Ukraine, which isn’t improving, and Europe, which aims to achieve independence from Russian fossil fuels, the upward trend continues. The average weekly price of Brent grew from 94.04 €/bbl to 107.16 €/bbl.
