France Power Pricing Trends | 3 January 2022
The electricity futures market declined in the last week of 2021. This was due to several factors: lower natural gas prices, spring-like temperatures, strong European wind generation, and lower electricity demand during the holiday season. Average weekly prices leapt from 141.25 €/MWh to 126.53 €/MWh for CAL 2023 & from 94.47 €/MWh to 88.75 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 3 January 2022
While the tension with Russia is still palpable, the natural gas futures market fell last week. As with electricity, the mild weather of the last few days and the drop in economic activity between the end of the year holidays, as well as a greater influx of LNG, have influenced the fall in prices. Average weekly prices surged from 55.55 €/MWh to 47.55 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 28.94 €/MWh to 28.04 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 3 January 2022
Oil prices rose last week. The market is confident that demand will remain strong, despite the spread of the Omicron variant around the world. The average weekly price of Brent rebounded from 66.23 €/bbl to 69.65 €/bbl.
