France Power Pricing Trends | 30 January 2023

Despite the cold that has set in, pushing nominal power usage up (+6 GW) compared to the previous week, CAL24 BL prices fell by about 11% last week. This month, the relaunch of reactors led to an increase in production.  Recently, a previously affected reactor in Civaux was put back into operation, which reassured the market. The weekly average price grew from 184.28 €/MWh to 188.36 €/MWh for CAL 2024 but sagged from 141.24 €/MWh to 138.61 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 30 January 2023

Products on the natural gas market depreciated following the authorization granted to reopen Freeport’s infrastructure on January 23, 2023, allowing US LNG exports to Europe to relaunch. The level of French stocks remains high for the period, 67% against 36% last year. The weekly average price shrank from 64.07 €/MWh to 62.27 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 50.91 €/MWh to 49.94 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

France Oil Pricing Trends | 30 January 2023

The price of Brent rose last week. Partly owing to the latest US growth forecast (an improvement on the Fed’s estimate from Q4) & partly owing to a more optimistic turn on the Chinese economic front. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil increased from 79.27 €/bbl to 79.87 €/bbl.
