France Power Pricing Trends | 5 December 2022
The power market rose last week, driven by natural gas prices and carbon prices. As temperatures fall, thermal power plants in Europe are being stretched, requiring the purchase of new carbon permits. The weekly average price increased from 421.44 €/MWh to 438.24 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and grew from 290.95 €/MWh to 305.84 €/MWh for CAL 2024.

The natural gas market rose last week. The prolongation of the cold snap over the next two weeks is putting pressure on the markets. Gas stocks have started to be drawn down (92% at European level). The weekly average price increases from 118.85 €/MWh to 126.30 €/MWh for CAL 2023 and from 93.35 €/MWh to 96.54 €/MWh for CAL 2024.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 5 December 2022
The price of Brent crude oil fell slightly last week. The EU agreed at the end of the week to a price cap on Russian oil of $60/barrel, as part of economic sanctions against Russia. As a sign of solidarity between producers, OPEC+ members decided to maintain their plan to cut production. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil decreased from 83.14 €/bbl to 81.96 €/bbl.
