The natural gas market fell last week. French gas stocks are at around 52%, up 2 points in a week. At European level, stocks are at 69.12% of capacity. The supply of natural gas is increasing with the return of maintenance, while demand is stagnating. Germany went into recession in the 1st quarter of 2023, and industrial demand for gas is slowing. In Asia, large coal stocks and high temperatures are contributing to the overall reduction in global demand.  The weekly average price decreased from 48.54 €/MWh to 43.80 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 44.01 €/MWh to 41.70 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

The price of Brent rose at the end of the week. In the United States, the Senate passed the US debt ceiling bill, thereby averting the scenario of a US debt default and a potential US economic crisis. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil decreased from 71.43 €/bbl to 69.65 €/bbl.
