France Power Pricing Trends | 9 January 2023
The power market declined last week. Influenced by natural gas prices, electricity futures prices are representative of a falling demand. The high level of power production from wind power is helping to compensate for the lack of nuclear production. The weekly average price decreased from 252.24 €/MWh to 229.31 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 177.67 €/MWh to 171.32 €/MWh for CAL 2025.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 9 January 2023
The natural gas market declined last week. Natural gas demand is still seasonally low due to the mild weather, with natural gas stocks remaining high (83% at the European level). Supply to EU countries is improving, with Germany and Finland receiving their first LNG deliveries in recent days. The market rose slightly last Thursday following a decrease in Russian gas flows via Ukraine. In France, the TICGN tax is lowered from 1 January 2023, from €8.41/MWh to €8.37/MWh. The weekly average price decreased from 74.14 €/MWh to 67.08 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 59.70 €/MWh to 57.31 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

Following the publication of an IMF report warning of the risks of economic recession in three quarters of the world's countries, the markets fell significantly last week, before stabilising at the end of the week. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil decreased from 79.47 €/bbl to 76.16 €/bbl.
