France Power Pricing Trends | 9 October 2023
The power market fell last week, following the trend for natural gas. In France, discussions on the "post ARENH" situation intensified at the end of the week. President Macron is expected to announce nuclear "electricity prices" by the end of the month, and a bill is due to be presented to Parliament by the end of the year. The weekly average price fell from 131.44 €/MWh to 122.48 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 121.93 €/MWh to 116.48 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

The natural gas market declined last week. Norwegian gas exports to the EU rose by 17% in one week. In Australia, the situation between Chevron and its employees is once again tense. Workers are threatening to strike again at the same two LNG terminals as in September if their management does not implement the agreements reached by the two parties. The weekly average price decreased from 48.88 €/MWh to 45.05 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 45.67 €/MWh to 43.33 €/MWh for CAL 2025.

Brent crude oil fell sharply last week, due to fears of a fall in demand as a result of offensive monetary policies. Despite this, the market is expecting prices to rise again in the coming weeks. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil decreased from 87.67 €/bbl to 82.90 €/bbl.
