A new all-time price record for CO2 came to be last Friday, reaching 56.50 €/t. Speculation on the carbon market has been affecting electricity prices for several weeks now. In the last week, the price of CAL 2022 increased by about 8%. The weekly average price rose from 61.80 €/MWh to 66.91 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 56.45 €/MWh to 60.85 €/MWh for CAL 2023.

Natural gas future prices have remained high due to cool temperatures for the season, combined with the rebuilding of natural gas reserves in Europe, which remain very low. The average weekly price rises from 20.39 €/MWh to 22.08 €/MWh for CAL 2022 and from 18.12 €/MWh to 19.00 €/MWh for CAL 2023.

The price on the fuel market fluctuated last week amid hopes and fears of a return to inflationary trends in the United States and a revision in the level of oil supply and demand. No sustainable trend stands out yet. The average weekly price of Brent rose from 56.83 €/bbl to 56.33 €/bbl.
