France Power Pricing Trends | 9 May 2023
The power market recovered last week, hovering around €200/MWh on the Baseload CAL 2024. In France, electricity demand increased by around 1 GW, due to the resumption of activity in energy intensive industries. The import of electricity from Germany was facilitated by strong solar power production in Germany. The weekly average price increased from 189.09 €/MWh to 197.25 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and fell from 130.19 €/MWh to 128.45 €/MWh for CAL 2025.
France Natural Gas Pricing Trends | 9 May 2023
The natural gas market fell slightly last week. French gas stocks are at around 39%, up 4 points in a week. The level of demand for natural gas remains modest across Europe, except in Spain. Indeed, Spanish demand for gas for power generation has risen sharply to meet the needs of air conditioning during this period of extreme heat in the Iberian Peninsula. The weekly average price decreased from 55.35 €/MWh to 55.10 €/MWh for CAL 2024 and from 48.23 €/MWh to 47.77 €/MWh for CAL 2025.
France Oil Pricing Trends | 9 May 2023
The price of Brent crude oil fell for the third week in a row. Market participants are concerned about weak oil demand in the face of weak US and Chinese economic growth. The weekly average price of Brent crude oil fell
from 72.69 €/bbl to 68.16 €/bbl.
