UN SDG Alignment
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a collection of 17 interrelated goals set by the United Nations. They cover a broad range of social and economic development issues. These include poverty, hunger, health, education, climate change, gender, equality, water, sanitation, energy. By measuring and reducing your carbon footprint with the Planet Mark, organisations can directly and measurably contribute to up to 8 SDGs addressing 15 SDG targets.

Tackling Office Emissions
For the first year of certification, the NUS UK office has quantified applicable emissions from:
- Scope 1: Stationary Fuels and Fugitive Emissions
- Scope 2: Electricity and Renewables
- Scope 3: Fuel-and-Energy Related Activities, Upstream Transportation and Distribution, Waste, Business Travel, Employee Commuting and Upstream Leased Assets.
The Planet Mark measurement methodology is fully aligned to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and all data is checked against evidence provided by NUS Consulting Group Ltd.
Certification with Planet Mark will see the NUS UK office commit to an annual 5% reduction in emissions associated with the officeโs business activities.
Commitment to Long-Term Carbon Reduction
The first year of certification with Planet Mark showcases NUS UKโs commitment to measuring and reducing emissions on a long-term basis. For second year recertification, the office will commit to reducing emissions by 5% through a range of procurement and behavioural change initiatives.
The global NUS Consulting Group is also committed to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and is in the process completing all required actions to submit Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions data and decarbonisation targets for validation.
