Invoice Processing
Processing energy invoices for payment is just the start.
Typically, most businesses use their accounts department to process their energy invoices, which means that they capture only the minimum data required to pay a bill - due date, payment amount and vendor. However, energy invoices include valuable operational data that is critical to other departments, procurement, sustainability, engineering, budget and planning.
How would NUS get our energy invoices?
During the onboarding process, the NUS team will determine the most effective way to obtain energy invoices, which varies by a facilityโs geographical location. Generally, we can secure invoices directly from a clientโs suppliers or gain access through the supplierโs online portal. Our objective is to reduce the clientโs participation and resource expenditure in this task.
Energy invoices are complex; how does NUS capture this data accurately?
We have developed advanced systems tailored to processing large volumes of energy invoice data and capturing critical component information, such as meter readings, billing dates, consumption, demand, network charges, energy taxes, and other components. This data is vital not only for paying invoices but also for preparing annual budgets, developing carbon footprints, procuring energy, and evaluating energy-related capital projects. We apply sophisticated algorithms to validate invoices, checking different invoice components and historical variances. Any inconsistencies are flagged for further investigation and review.
Can NUS support invoice payment?
As an extension of our invoice processing service, NUS offers the option to code each energy invoice processed with a clientโs accounting information and transmit a file of validated energy invoices (payment file) to the client for upload into its accounting system or its outsourced payment vendor. With the information, the client can simply and seamlessly release payment to their suppliers.
