Who is NUS Consulting Group Italia
NUS Consulting Group’s Italian office was established in Milan in June 1973, making it one of the first consultancies in the country specializing in energy management and sustainability. Today, NUS Consulting Group Italia has built an extensive team of local energy experts who support commercial and industrial businesses in navigating the Italian energy and sustainability market.
Over the past decades, we have become a reliable and trusted partner to our clients. Our mission is to help our clients control and reduce their energy costs, mitigate price volatility, and achieve their carbon reduction objectives.
The Italian Energy Market
The Italian energy market is a dynamic and complex one. It has been deregulated since the early 2000s (Bersani Decree). While Italy imports a small percentage of its electricity from its neighbors, it imports almost all of its natural gas through pipelines from Northern Africa, Europe, or imported LNG. Consequently, the prices of both electricity and natural gas are highly volatile and influenced by geopolitical events and regional government policies.
Local Italian government regulations and policies, including a push for increased renewable energy generation, are also affecting the market and price stability. This energy transition and increasing price volatility make energy purchasing and budgeting progressively more challenging for businesses.
Along with Italy’s traditional energy suppliers, Enel and ENI, there are now an abundance of retailers and resellers in the market. All of these market players have different operating models, financial strength, and pricing structures. Understanding the market and regulations, assessing traditional and renewable suppliers, and supply contracts requires extensive and local expertise to achieve the intended outcome.
Our Energy Management and Sustainability Services
NUS Consulting Group’s team has extensive experience and expertise in the Italian energy market, closely monitoring regulations and maintaining good relations with local traditional and renewable energy suppliers. We not only provide our clients with independent energy procurement services, but also offer a range of additional services, including energy invoice processing, energy information management systems, rate analysis, energy risk management, energy budgeting, and energy sustainability services.
Additionally, our local staff offers clients support in complying with local regulations, including those related to electricity and gas-intensive businesses (elettrivori and gasivori), Energy Release 2.0, electricity and gas interruptability (interrompibilità ), excise tax (accise), EED Article 8 (Decree 102/2014), and the Energy Manager programme (Law 10/1991).
Why Choose NUS Consulting Italia
The Italian energy market is a complex one, particularly for those who are located in the country and not fluent in Italian. Most suppliers correspond, quote prices, and issue contracts, including terms and conditions, in the local language.
The NUS Italian team has extensive experience in the local energy markets, strong relationships with the principal domestic and international energy suppliers, and a deep understanding of the local business culture. We also benefit from the resources and perspective that come with being part of a global group.
In Italy, we support multinational and medium-sized businesses across industries, including chemicals, automotive, pharmaceuticals, data centers, retailers, and hospitality, in developing tailored energy strategies that reduce costs, mitigate risk, and achieve their sustainability goals.
As a leading provider of energy management consulting services for businesses, our goal is to help companies address policy changes, market volatility, and investor and customer demands for greater sustainability.
Our mission is to thoroughly understand our clients’ processes, decision-making, and long-term goals and to develop customized energy management and sustainability solutions. Our culture is built on strong, long-lasting relationships with our clients and acting as a valued-added partner.
